Samantha van Gerbig, Mechanic & Special Projects
Lover of fine bicycles. Recent transplant to Burlington from Boston via a lot of bike touring and traveling around the country. Completed the Tour Divide on her LHT. Graphic designer and illustrator with a degree in museum science.
Chuda Karki, Mechanic
Father. Bike builder. Mechanic with the biggest smile. Chuda started working on bikes in his Nepali refugee camp, moved to Burlington in 2015, completed a work experience at our community workshop through a partnership with VABIR, and was hired at Old Spokes Home shortly thereafter.
Erik Glouchevitch, Mechanic
Burlington bike shop veteran of five years. Resident suspension and tubeless expert. Likes to dance. Struggles to pick up pennies. They are so small, you know?
Sammi Hedlund, Mechanic
Racer. Smiley. Lover of purple nail polish (but who isn't).
Rob Voland, Mechanic
Expert mechanic and resident IGH expert. Old Spokes Home veteran. Lover of the rare and vintage. He'll make any bike purr.
Malcolm Achilles, mechanic
Hinesburg resident. Soon-to-be RPI engineering student. He likes bikes.
Chuck West, Community Workshop Mechanic
Chuck started volunteering at our community workshop after Veterans' Affairs recommended it to him as a way to get involved in the community. Thanks to a partnership with the VA we were able to bring Chuck on as staff for summer 2017. If he's not cranking through bikes for our Everybody Bikes program, he's cranking through centuries on his bike.
Laura Jacoby, Executive Director
Old Spokes Home's first executive director as of October 2016. Most recently worked with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) founded by Syrians and Iraqis to respond to the crises in their countries. Grateful for the opportunity to be part of a local effort to distribute a valuable resource -- bikes -- in an equitable way as a means of increasing the health of our community, economy, and environment. Also excited to revist Vermont's amazing mountain bike trails.
Jim Brennan, Mechanic & Instructor
Bike shop veteran. U.S. history buff. Drinker of purple drink. J&M's best customer. Ask him how much he loves getting people on bikes.
Jeremy Kehoe, Retail Manager
Navy veteran. Voted Best Bartender in Missoula, Montana... twice. Lover of dirt roads and fat tires. Total clown.
Christine Hill, Outreach Director
Lover of bike camping, bike picnics, and class 4 roads. Accidental glitter enthusiast. Derives more joy from riding bikes with friends than pretty much anything else.
Sam Wooster, Service Manager
Semester-at-sea-er, cross-country bike tourer. Often refered to as "the tall one with the amazing hair."
Wil Blanchard, Mechanic & Nice Guy
Lover of fat bikes, and more specifically his 2017 Salsa Beargrease. Cofounder of Vermont Mountain Bike Assosiciation's Bikepacking Chapter. User of the word "dooryard" to describe driveways. The nicest guy you'll ever meet.
Dan Hock, Operations Director
Old Spokes Home veteran of 10 years. Lover of touring around South America, Rainbow Dash, racing 12" bikes, and sporting. Organizer of annual Klunk Party Fun Time America. He is pizza.
Tom Anderson-Monterosso, Buyer
After an all-terrain adolescence, Tom drank the Simple Green at Oberlin Bike Co-op in Ohio before turning wrenches for love and money in Connecticut, Tucson, the Berkshires, Pittsburgh, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He has toured the continent, managed a distributor warehouse, supported a charity ride from Seattle to DC, and co-founded a community bike shop in New London, CT. He spends his evenings with his rocking chair, wood stove, bookcase, and boombox.
Orest Pazuniak, Mechanic
Grad student. Most recently from Philadelphia where he worked for Philly's bike share program, Indego. Has lived and ridden his bike all over this county; ask him about it.
