The Great Bicycle Harvest

Donated bikes are the fuel to our fire. Every fall we harvest as many underutilized and unwanted bikes as we can. The bikes we gather in the fall are refurbished over the winter and made available in the spring and summer via used bike sales at the shop, our Everybody Bikes program, Create A Commuter program, workforce training programs, and Kids Bike Bonanzas.

How you can help

Organize a bike drive.

Organize a bike drive at your workplace, school, place or workshop, or neighborhood hangout. We'll provide the posters, copy, and donation pick-up, you just need to pick a drop-off date and location and spread the word to your people. Email Christine to get started.

Donate a bike.

Donations are tax-deductible! Make space in your garage, feel good about helping people access bicycles, and get a tax-deductible receipt. Bikes can be dropped off at Old Spokes Home year-round, anytime during our open hours. If you are not in Burlington, check back here in the fall to learn about bike drives happening near your home or workplace.

Support us.

Just because you don't have a bike to give doesn't mean you can't make a difference. You can help us get more people on bikes by making a monetary donation to support our work:

Donation Drop-off Locations

Old Spokes Home (year-round)

Monday through Saturday: 10am - 6pm

Sunday: 12pm - 5pm

Other Locations

Can your school, workplace, home, or place of workshop serve as a drop-off location for bike donations? We're seeking Great Bicycle Harvesters to help us run bike drives in the Champlain Islands, Mad River Valley, Central Vermont, and elsewhere around the state.

Email Christine to become a drop-off location. Businesses, organizations, and schools receive special recognition for their contributions!

Donation Pick-up

Pick-ups currently available in Waitsfield, Richmond, and Essex. Email christine@bikerecyclevt.org to schedule.

Do you live outside of Burlington and commute into town often? Are you willing to pick up bicycles in your town on our behalf? Contact christine@bikerecyclevt.org to learn more and volunteer.

What do we accept?

See our Donate page for details on what we do and do not accept for donations.
