Velocipede - La Compagnie Parisienne 1870

Velocipede - Co. Parisian 1870 An all metal machine and another transitional built by the leading French manufacturer Co. Parisian. A rear mounting step, wire spoked wheels, and rubber tires greatly improved the ride ability of the velocipede. From this technological point onward all wooden wheeled velocipedes were referred to as “Boneshakers”. The wire spoked wheel was far superior to the older wagon type wheel. They were lighter in weight, were held true by tensioning the spokes, and offered a degree of suspension over their wooden counter-parts.
