Velocipede - Pickering and Davis (?) 1868

Velocipede - Pickering and Davis (?) 1868 This machine is of the second frame design for velocipedes known as the “Diagonal Style”. The velocipede is, as of yet, unidentified but the pedals have the inscription “Pickering New York” and may be one of their earlier styles. Note the brake which is operated by twisting the handlebars thus pulling a cord connected to the spoon brake at the rear wheel. The wheels are built with a radial pattern of spokes.
