Bike donations are integral for our Everybody Bikes program, Kids Bike Bonanzas, and other programs. Nicer bike donations are sold in our shop to help generate revenue that supports our social and educational programs.
All donations (bikes and money) are tax-exempt. If you would like a donation receipt, please ask for one when donating.
WHAT WE ACCEPT
We can always use bikes that are in rideable or very nearly rideable condition and/or good quality bikes and parts. Donations are accepted based on staff discretion. A suggested $10 donation to help us provide bicycles and repair services to all Vermonters through our Everybody Bikes program.
If you are donating 5 or more bicycles, please call Old Spokes Home ahead of time. Bicycle storage is a challenge for us and we need to plan ahead for large bike donations. You can reach us at (802) 863-4475.
WHERE TO DONATE
Donations can be dropped off at Old Spokes Home anytime during our open hours. Old Spokes Home is located at 322 N Winooski Avenue in Burlington. See Old Spokes Home’s current hours on the bottom of the page.
If you are looking to upgrade your ride, consider trading in your old bike and save some money on your new one.
Old Spokes Home managers need to see your bicycle in person to let you know what the value of the trade-in is, so please bring it with you when you come bicycle shopping.
SELL YOUR BIKE
Looking to get rid of your bike? We've been buying used bicycles for 15 years. Due to an increase in donated bicycles, we buy fewer bikes these days. If you are looking to get close to market value, we recommend using Craigslist. If you're simply looking to offload your old bicycle, feel free to bring it to the shop and we'll let you know how much we can give you. Or, consider donating it for a tax-deductible receipt and warm and fuzzy feelings from supporting our mission with your bike donation.
